“Whoa! Dudes! What th’ fuck just happened?”

Boner addressed the question to Hampster, Cancer Balls and Leatherhead--fellow members of his punk rock group, The Black Banana Lungs.

“I dunno, man,” said Cancer Balls. “It’s like we did a reset or somethin’ on that last riff.”

“Play it again, hosers,” commanded Boner. He brushed the long, purple hair back from his eyes as he glanced at his wristwatch.

The group again played the three measures consisting of 15 notes in 4/4 time. The snare, bass and electric guitar combined to produce the catchy little riff that the trio just happened to create while clowning around during their weekly rehearsal in Cancer Ball's parents' garage.

The riff concluded; the strange sensation again hit the band members.

Boner glanced at his watch again. “I don’t fuckin’ believe it! We just lost seven seconds!”

Boner was quite correct. Unknown to The Black Banana Lungs, people the world over were stunned and shocked as their world had just reset itself by a few seconds-—twice, in fact. Time signal stations around the world had recorded the mysterious events. Computer networks were beginning to crash. Militaries around the world were put on high alert.

“Hey guys,” said Boner. “Do it again.”

Leatherhead pulled out his cassette player.

“You sure?” asked Hampster.

“And a one, and a two, and a—“

They concluded a third time. Leatherhead hit the Stop and Play buttons. But then he accidentally hit Erase.
