The Eyes Have It
by Eric Miller

I met her voice before I
met her eyes, because I
was on my knees dealing
with shoestring ties.

But when I rose to my full
height, I lost her voice, but
found her sight.

I only heard what I did see
in those sky blue eyes with
which she looked at me.

The only sound that filled
the air came from the ocular
words of a smitten pair.

And when it was time to say
farewell, after a long and happy
life, we both said our goodbyes
through our verbal, loving eyes.
