Never Kissed
                by Ian Curtress

                        Through the window
                        young voices heard
Heart leaps. Once again garden lives
                        GreatGrandChildren a short visit
                        Open garden door.
Keep distance Papa! a careful note
A ghastly warning learned by rote
Will they recall these hideous times
No loving hugs, a broken heart
                        Tears held back. Stand apart
A longing smile, lips to bite
Ill not be here to put things right
Their laughter now echos in my ears
For them at least there are no tears
Will they know the love they missed
                        By GreatGrandDad, never kissed. |
