A Bit of a Performance
by Tiffany H. White

“Be under no illusion Barnum -  we simply can’t ignore the elephant in the room.”

“I’ll not pull my punches, Houdini. You’ll end up in deep water if you don’t toe the line.”

“He’s got you over a barrel there Harry me lad!”  Edison smirked. He knew exactly which buttons to push.

“Are you winding me up?” Houdini yelled  “He  might put on a good show but it’s just a bad act.”

Barnum completely freaked out  “Oh yeah? Not according to your mum. ‘Great performance’ was the message she sent. With a dozen red roses.”

“Bastard! You may think you’re being  smart, but I’ve still got a few tricks up my sleeve.”  Houdini kicked Barnum really hard on the shin and Barnum kicked him right where it hurts.

“They’re making a right old exhibition of themselves.” Edison sighed  as the sparks began to fly, “Which reminds me - where’s my elephant? I don’t want anything to happen to her. Not yet.”

“Old Nellie?  She packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus.  I heard she’s  gone off with Trump, believe it or not.”  Ripley replied.
